Retainers

A retainer is a removable appliance that helps keep teeth in their new, straightened position, usually after braces have been removed.

Retainers can also be used to treat more minor orthodontic problems.

Most retainers should be worn 24 hours a day for the first month then at night while you sleep. When you first receive your retainer, you will be provided with specific instructions for wearing.

Your speech may be affected the first few days of wearing your retainers. Your speech will return to normal quickly with practice.  Reading aloud to yourself can help.

Remember: Always keep your retainers in your case when eating or when you're not wearing them.

This is the best way to avoid losing or breaking your retainers!
